Sean D. K. Scott, Esq. is is the founding member of Scott Law Group. Sean earned his Bachelors degree in Criminology from the University of Florida in 1990. He subsequently earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1994. Upon graduating law school, Sean began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Pinellas County Public Defender’s Office. While working there, he zealously represented a 170+ average caseload of indigent defendants charged with criminal offenses. He had the additional responsibility of defending persons in involuntarily commitment hearings, pursuant to the Florida Baker Act Statute.
After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Sean opened his own private practice in 1997. As the Managing Member of Scott Law Group, PLC, Sean has had extensive experience in handling cases in the following areas: Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Business Law & Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Bankruptcy, Estate Planning/Administration, and Probate Law.
While practicing, Sean also devoted 12 years as a Full Professor at St. Petersburg College. While there, he trained legal professionals in the areas of Business Law, Corporations, Bankruptcy, Criminal Law, Legal Drafting, and Civil Litigation. He was twice awarded the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year.
Sean was raised in the Tampa Bay area where he attended Dunedin High School. He currently lives in the delightful seaside town of Dunedin. He is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association, speaks at continuing legal education seminars, and enjoys giving back to his community. In his free time, Sean enjoys surfing, building surfboards, fishing, golfing, and DIY projects.
